Registration for Players NEW to Minor Hockey (revised Aug 26, 2025)

Welcome new players!

If you already have a child enrolled with VMHA or another association, please send ID and address confirmation to registrar@victoriaminorhockey.ca instead of following these instructions, as you would have already completed the major steps. In addition please follow VIAHA’s Residency Checklist.

For new to hockey families:

  • An overview of registration (pricing, etc) can be found on our site under the Registration menu at the top of this page.
  • We’ll just want to double check that you live in the Victoria draw zone (similar to a school catchment). If you could send your address to registrar@victoriaminorhockey.ca, we can double check that for you.
  • Our arenas include Archie Browning (Esquimalt), Pearkes Recreation, Oak Bay Recreation, Naden Athletic Centre (on Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt) and Save-On Foods Memorial Centre
  • Before you register, please contact registrar@victoriaminorhockey.ca to obtain a Hockey Canada ID  for your player. You will then be able to complete the Respect in Sport Parent Program. You will need this course and the Hockey Canada ID number before you can register with us.

  • Now that you have the Hockey Canada Registry ID you can continue to the Registration page.
  • We will need proof of residency and a copy of a birth certificate or passport or care card.
  • You then will need to create a Hockey Canada Spordle Account (not an ID number, just an account to view your number/profile)
    • Navigate to the Hockey Canada 3.0 website (Spordle Platform) and create your account. Once you have done that, you will search for your Hockey Canada ID using your name and birthdate or your HCR number and LINK it to your account. You will also search for your players and link them to your same account. That way, you can see yours and your players qualifications and Hockey Canada Profiles.  A summary of steps can be found here.
  • Required equipment and some tips for new hockey parents can be found here

Check out the required equipment and tips on how to buy the right sizes in our Tips for Those New to Minor Hockey.  Please let us know if you have any other questions.
