Registration for Players NEW to Minor Hockey
Welcome new players!
If you already have a child enrolled with VMHA or another association, please send ID and address confirmation to registrar@victoriaminorhockey.ca instead of following these instructions, as you would have already completed the major steps. In addition please follow VIAHA’s Residency Checklist.
For new to hockey families:
- An overview of registration (pricing, etc) can be found on our site under the Registration menu at the top of this page.
- We’ll just want to double check that you live in the Victoria draw zone (similar to a school catchment). If you could send your address to registrar@victoriaminorhockey.ca, we can double check that for you.
- Our arenas include Archie Browning (Esquimalt), Pearkes Recreation, Oak Bay Recreation, Naden Athletic Centre (on Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt) and Save-On Foods Memorial Centre
- Before you register, you’ll need to complete a Respect in Sport Parent Program, online, which will provide your child with a Hockey Canada number . You will need this number when you register with us.
IMPORTANT - After completion of the Respect in Sport Parent Program course, please go back to the Child Management Page and retrieve the Hockey Canada ID, you will need that to register. Please ensure you select Victoria Minor Hockey Association on the child management page- HCR Creation or your registration wont work
- Now that you have the Hockey Canada Registry number you can continue to the NEW Player Registration page. New players are not processed until after June 1. Signing up before then will put you on a notification / wait list so that we can contact you in June.
- We will need proof of residency and a copy of a birth certificate or passport or care card.
- Required equipment and some tips for new hockey parents can be found here
- If you are interested in volunteering (we love volunteers!!), please note the requirements here and that you will need to complete the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders first, in order to generate your own unique hockey ID aside from your child’s (you will already have one if you played organized hockey anywhere in Canada and you’ll be able to log in)
- You then will need to create a Hockey Canada Account (not an ID number, just an account to view your number/profile)
-
- Navigate to the Hockey Canada 3.0 website (Spordle Platform) and create your account. Once you have done that, you will search for your Hockey Canada ID using your name and birthdate or your HCR number and LINK it to your account. You will also search for your players and link them to your same account. That way, you can see yours and your players qualifications and Hockey Canada Profiles
Check out the required equipment and tips on how to buy the right sizes in our Tips for Those New to Minor Hockey. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
