Assessment Schedule

The full assessment ice schedule for the week of September 4 – 10 can be found on the VMHA homepage. Also note that there are game slots on September 9 and 10 for all divisions, but groups will be assigned during that week. You will receive a confirmation of your game time(s) once the groups have been created.

Recreational Assessment Process

For the past several years, our recreational team selection process has been the following:

  • Assessments
  • A coach’s meeting at each age division
  • Team selection
  • Games, reassessment and re-balancing

While this has been a strong process, it has resulted in team imbalances. Therefore, this season, we will try a different approach in an effort to reduce the disparity. The two main differences will be waiting for the SMHA-VMHA rep co-op to release players from representative team selection and using a player draft for team selection.

As in previous seasons, kids will be divided up randomly into groups for practices and games during the initial few weeks of the season. During this period, the coaches will focus on skill development and assessing the kids for the draft. These weeks are intended to be fun for the kids as they gear up for a new season.

As the new season approaches, we have been receiving a number of inquiries from people interested in coaching. Thanks very much for the interest! Please be sure to go on-line and complete our 2017-18 Coaching & Team Staff Application:

Thanks very much. We look forward to receiving your applications!
