SUBJECT: Participation in Non-Sanctioned Leagues by Recreational Players

 

There appears to have been some confusion since Galen Brewer released his memorandum on July 30, 2025 regarding participation in non-sanctioned leagues. Some have said that the memo indicated the policy related to Island League players only. This is incorrect.

Both the VIAHA and the BC Hockey policies on Non-Sanctioned Leagues state the policies apply to all players and team officials in all levels of hockey. Full text of the policies can be found in the VIAHA Policy Manual, Section 2.05 and in the BC Hockey Policy Manual Section C.08.
