Welcome from the President
Last season’s theme was ‘change’ with the joining of our organizations and our rebrand. I think this year’s theme will be flexibility. Things will continue to evolve and shift throughout the year and we appreciate your patience as we keep meeting the challenges we face.

It has been a strange time to step into the president’s role and I had big shoes to fill after Mark Grambart and David Horricks both retired from the board after many years of service to both VMHA and SMHA. But, I am fortunate to have inherited a strong, vibrant association from them.

At Victoria Minor Hockey, our philosophy is based on “skills, sweat and smiles”. When we focus on development, conditioning and fun, our players succeed, our teams compete and our association thrives.

VMHA has an incredible group of leaders, both on and off the ice, from the board to our coordinators and coaches to our players. None of this happens without the time and talents of our volunteers. They are all invested in creating a safe and fun place for our kids to play hockey.

As we start a new season, I hope for three things:

  • That players, officials and volunteers are shown respect and appreciation
  • That we continue building an inclusive, positive hockey culture at VMHA
  • That our participants and families create lifelong hockey memories

Looking forward to puck drop next week for the Admirals’ sophomore season!
My “door” is always open if you would like to chat.

Recreation Player Groups
Players have now been placed into groups for initial cohorts and balancing games. The list of players and groups is available here. (U18 groups to follow)

Please note that groupings have been made to account for and balance a number of factors, so we are not accepting requests to switch groups. Groups may go through changes after balancing games, and additional players will be added to teams after rep assessments.

Rep Colour Groups

Players have now been placed into colour groups for assessments, and we will be using those same groups for the first two weeks of “Rep Prep” sessions. The list of players and colour groups is available here.

Please note that groupings have been made to account for a number of factors, so we are not accepting requests to switch groups, even when a player is unable to make a scheduled Rep Prep session.

Rep News – Assessments
Now that we are in Phase 3,  we are able to plan for representative assessments. The assessment schedule has not yet been finalized, but please mark September 21 on your calendar for the start of Phase 1. Goalie assessments will begin on September 19.
